How it Started

This design developed around a patio with a pergola and fireplace, set within a large yard where privacy was important. The yard had slope so we suggested sinking the patio to give a sense of boundary from the house. Mrs Anderson suggested bringing the fence closer and when we updated the design, it immediately felt cozy. It was also important that this didn't feel like an add on so for the walkway above the retaining wall, we poured brush finished concrete to match the existing porch. The pergola is rough sawn cedar - stained - and includes outlets with ceiling fan. The final touches include a bubbling boulder for the sound of water (juxtaposing the fireplace), a focal tree - weeping atlas cedar tree, and lights.

Let's talk Construction

We began with excavation, setting the retaining wall, and pouring footings. Because the design was drawn to scale, we were able to lay out and triangulate the wall, fireplace, and pergola with accuracy. The patio followed, with concrete, fencing, planting, and lawn repair completing the project.

"We’ve been talking about an outdoor space for years and wanted something peaceful. Our yard was flat and the features that stood out was the tiering. Working with Scott was easy and his communication was consistent, they did a great job"
