What started as a blank backyard facing partially west became an opportunity to sit in the pool until sunset. With a centered veranda, a symmetrical design felt intuitive. Initial designs leaned heavily into symmetry, but what ultimately caught our eye was blending symmetry with asymmetry (one of our personal favorites).
The pool is centered, with a sun ledge flanked by fire bowls. The steps and seating ledges on both sides of the fire bowls, along with the bench opposite the sun ledge, create the symmetry.
Then, from opposite ends: the outdoor kitchen against the house and a sunken fire pit patio below the pool. The reason we love blending asymmetry with symmetry is that it creates natural interest within a structure that still feels predictable.

We began with the pool. Most projects with a pool begin with deigging and pouring the pool shell. This gave us an anchor to build around. Steps and pavers were set, coping stone and finishes, the kitchen and appliances attached and finsihed wtih ginal grade, fence and sod.
